Event Description

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation works with the state to offer free motorcyle courses.  In Pennsylvania it is called the PA Motorcycle Safety Program (PAMSP).  There are courses all around the Pittsburgh area.

The 'Experienced Rider Course' is a good "back to basics" course for any rider, regardless of skill level.

The courses usually fill up pretty quickly.  They only open them up for registration something like 6 weeks prior to the course.

There are still spots remaining in the May 22 course at CCAC Boyce in Monroeville.

It is Section 504 on their site.

It also appears that they are in process of changing the name to 'Basic Rider Course 2'.

My goal in posting this was for some of the members who have riden with us who decent riders, but are looking to improve and who would benefit from a bit of more formalized instruction.  The only members who showed are those who are already really good riders (and who were not my targeted audience).

I took the course twice before over the years, and it helped me.

We have members who have 85% plus very good skills and they keep up in straights and sweepers, but have difficulty in the twisties.  Most of this is about where the rider is looking.  The natural instinct can be to look where you 'are' rather than where you 'will be'.  Many of our members would have benefited from this class as they focus on and prove how important it is to use your peripheral vision to establish where you 'are' and to keep your vision directed at where you 'will be'.

If we would have had some new members or those who were not already very skilled riders, I would have been more interested to get signed up earlier.

Mark, you organized this and didn't sign up in time? You were LATE signing up?  Did they not honor alien time? That's discrimination!

Mark, thanks for organizing.  Sorry you got sqeezed out of your own event as an alternate.  I almost gave up my spot just to watch you ride the 250 Suzuki!
