Hey, guys. Sorry, again, for the inconvenience caused by my bike. Many thanks and kudos again to John and Vince for the help. Looks like either a fried instrument computer or a wiring feed to it. I got lucky one time and the dash just clicked on, so started it immediately. The dash went out after about 2 minutes. We rode back using John's headlight (or with me holding down the high beam flash button). We checked the spare key and that was not the culprit. Hope it is a connection

so what was the gremlin that kept the bike from starting?
